Education and Experience

I have over 16 years experience working with children, teens, their families and parents in outpatient hospital settings (IOP and PHP), developmental (ECI), and Educational based settings (School Crisis Counselor/ SPED Counselor). The question is not what’s wrong with you, but rather what happened to you? I assist you in working though situations of anxiety, depression, focus and attention, disrupted sleep, irritability, life stressors such as strained family dynamics, major life changes, poor self-esteem, medical diagnosis and grief. All feelings are normal, it is how we respond to them that impact our lives. When working with children and adolescents, I utilize play therapy techniques such as games, sand tray play, art, prompted journaling and physical activities to assist with the therapeutic process. Through these activities, I assist the youth in creating a new tool box of coping skills to address their feelings and emotions. I work with clients age from 5 to 65.
Types of Therapy
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI), Pathways (Naturalistic ABA), Trauma Informed, Restorative Circles, Play Based.
About Myself:
I believe the client is the expert on their own life. You have strengths that are often overlooked when dealing with life issues. I feel my role is to facilitate your path towards your goals by highlighting your strengths and working towards solutions together. I also believe that parents are key players in their youth’s functioning. As a team, we approach the issues that bring you or your child to therapy to achieve the best outcomes. As a therapist, I focus on strength based, solution focused, trauma informed practices. The therapeutic models I utilize are those of cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused, family systems theories. You are the expert in your own life, and we start where you feel comfortable. I provide mindful, empathetic and evidence-based techniques to help you achieve your goals.
