EMDR Therapy in Fort Worth & Arlington for Trauma, Anxiety & PTSD

Trauma Therapy in Fort Worth & Arlington

Healing from Trauma
Life’s most painful experiences can leave lasting emotional wounds. Whether you’ve lived through a one‑time accident, ongoing abuse, or events like natural disasters or combat, the impact of trauma can make everyday life overwhelming. According to the American Psychological Association, trauma is the emotional response to an extremely negative event. Traumatic experiences range from domestic violence, severe illness or injury, and the death of a loved one, to witnessing violence or sexual assault. These events may occur only once or over months or years, and they can affect adults, teens, and children alike.

At Mindful Solutions Counseling & Mental Health we specialize in helping people in Fort Worth and Arlington heal from trauma. Our licensed therapists offer evidence‑based therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and trauma‑informed approaches. Below you’ll learn how trauma affects you, why therapy matters, and what treatment options are available.

How Trauma Manifests
Trauma isn’t just a memory, it changes how your mind and body react to the world. Symptoms can appear days, months or years after the event and may show up in different ways:
  • Emotional & psychological symptoms : denial or shock; anger and irritability; sadness; overwhelming fear; intrusive memories; and sudden emotional outbursts.
  • Physical symptoms: paleness, lethargy or fatigue, difficulty concentrating, racing heartbeat, or insomnia.
  • Relational & behavioral symptoms: withdrawing from loved ones, avoiding reminders of the trauma, numbing through substances or technology, and difficulty trusting others.
Without support, trauma can contribute to anxiety, depression, panic attacks, nightmares and physical health problems. Addressing trauma early improves long‑term outcomes.

Evidence‑Based Trauma Therapy
Research over the past decade has identified therapies that consistently reduce trauma symptoms and improve quality of life. The American Psychological Association’s 2025 Clinical Practice Guideline drew from 15 systematic reviews and found that psychotherapy is the recommended first‑line treatment for PTSD and trauma. Among these treatments, three modalities have the strongest evidence:
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – guides clients through recalling traumatic memories while using eye movements or other bilateral stimulation. EMDR helps reprocess memories so they lose their intensity.
  • Cognitive Therapy – focuses on reevaluating trauma‑related beliefs and developing healthier thought patterns.
  • Narrative Exposure Therapy – helps individuals build a coherent narrative of their life, integrating the traumatic event into the larger story.
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) : a form of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps clients examine and reframe beliefs about the trauma. It guides people through processing traumatic memories and challenging unhelpful thoughts. CPT has been shown to produce large, lasting reductions in PTSD symptoms.
  • Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy: a structured therapy that gradually exposes clients to trauma‑related memories and situations in a safe environment, helping them face and reduce avoidance behaviors.
  • Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT): combines psychoeducation, relaxation, cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy to address trauma memories and the way they shape beliefs.

Our Approach: Compassionate & Personalized
At Mindful Solutions, we blend the most effective trauma therapies with compassion and cultural sensitivity. Our therapists are trained in:
  • EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART): rapid modalities that help the brain process trauma and create new positive associations.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): skills‑based therapy that teaches mindfulness, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Somatic and animal‑assisted therapies: integrating the body and the human–animal bond to promote healing and calm.
  • Group therapy and family‑focused interventions: because healing often happens in community.
We also recognize that trauma can intersect with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, first‑responder stress, and perinatal mental health concerns. Each person receives a treatment plan tailored to their experiences and goals. We provide services in‑office and via telehealth to increase accessibility. For individuals who prefer faith‑integrated therapy, Christian counseling options are available.

You’ll find a welcoming, judgment‑free space where you can process trauma and learn tools to regain control of your life.
