EMDR Therapy in Fort Worth & Arlington for Trauma, Anxiety & PTSD

Anxiety Therapy in Fort Worth & Arlington

 Understanding Anxiety
Feeling nervous before an exam, worrying about finances or having butterflies during a public speech is normal. However, anxiety disorders involve more than occasional worry or fear. According to the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), for people with these disorders the anxiety does not go away, is felt in many situations and can even get worse over time. There are several types of anxiety disorders that affect a significant portion of our population and include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and various phobia‑related disorders. In fact, the NIMH notes that about one‑third of U.S. adolescents and adults will experience an anxiety disorder at some point; the resulting symptoms can interfere with daily life, work, school and relationships.

At Mindful Solutions Counseling & Mental Health, we help people in Fort Worth, Arlington and surrounding communities manage anxiety and reclaim calm. Our licensed therapists specialize in evidence‑based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure‑based treatments, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Whether you struggle with chronic worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, specific phobias or physical symptoms of anxiety, we can help you heal.

Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety
Anxiety disorders manifest in both mental and physical ways. Common signs include:
  • Persistent worry or nervousness—feeling tense or keyed up much of the time.
  • Sense of impending danger, panic or doom (a feeling that something terrible will happen).
  • Physical symptoms such as rapid heart rate, hyperventilation, sweating, trembling, upset stomach and muscle tension.
  • Difficulty concentrating or feeling that your mind goes blank, trouble sleeping, and feeling weak or tired.
  • Avoidance behaviors such as avoiding people, situations or activities that trigger anxiety, which can reinforce fear and limit life experiences.
If any of these symptoms persist and interfere with your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Anxiety disorders rarely resolve on their own and may worsen without treatment.

Evidence‑Based Treatments for Anxiety
Research shows that psychotherapy is the cornerstone of anxiety treatment. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) reports that for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT, which teaches clients to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts) is the most effective and well‑studied form of psychotherapy. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin‑norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are often the first‑line medications for anxiety disorders, but psychotherapy is as effective as pharmacotherapy, and combining the two is often more beneficial.
Some key points from current evidence:
  • CBT and exposure‑based therapies: These help clients gradually face feared situations and learn healthier thought patterns. Studies show they offer lasting relief from anxiety and panic.
  • Mindfulness and relaxation techniques: Breathing exercises, meditation and progressive muscle relaxation can help reduce physiological arousal.
  • Lifestyle and complementary approaches: Regular exercise may benefit people with anxiety.
Our approach focuses on therapies with the strongest support. We collaborate with local physicians and psychiatrists when medication evaluation is appropriate and always ensure that treatment plans are customized to your needs.

How Mindful Solutions Counseling Can Help
At Mindful Solutions Counseling, our anxiety specialists provide a compassionate space to explore the roots of your anxiety and develop skills for resilience. Our services include:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Learn to identify distorted thinking, challenge irrational beliefs and replace them with more balanced perspectives. For clients with panic disorder, we incorporate interoceptive exposure to gradually desensitize fear of bodily sensations.
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): A proven treatment for phobias and obsessive‑compulsive behaviors, ERP helps you confront fears in a controlled environment.
  • EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART): Originally developed for trauma, these modalities can also help process anxiety‑provoking memories and reduce the emotional charge associated with triggers.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training: Teaches mindfulness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation—useful for generalized anxiety and co‑occurring depression.
  • Telehealth and in‑person sessions: Accessible care for individuals and families throughout Fort Worth, Arlington, Benbrook and beyond. We also offer specialized counseling for first responders, military families, perinatal mental health and those seeking faith‑integrated therapy.
Mindful Solutions proudly serves Tarrant County and the greater Dallas–Fort Worth metro area. Our office is centrally located for residents of Fort Worth, Arlington, Benbrook and neighboring communities, and we offer flexible telehealth appointments across Texas. We accept many insurance plans and self pay options to ensure access to care.
