Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an innovative form of psychotherapy that helps clients quickly replace distressing images and memories with positive ones of their own choosing. This process often happens in just one session, bringing rapid relief from symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress. Once the negative images are replaced, triggers disappear—nightmares and intrusive thoughts stop.

Research supporting ART’s effectiveness is growing, and ART is recognized as evidence-based by the Society of Clinical Psychology, Division 12 of the American Psychological Association (APA). What makes ART especially powerful is its combination of eye movement techniques with well-established therapeutic approaches like Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Guided Imagery. These eye movements help the brain process and heal much more quickly, enhancing the effectiveness of these therapies.

While ART was initially developed to treat trauma and PTSD, it has been shown to help with a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, and even challenges associated with dyslexia. Many clients experience significant improvements in reading and focus as a result of ART. Eye movements themselves are known to be calming and therapeutic, producing theta brain waves, which are associated with creativity, intuition, and meditative states. This calming effect makes ART sessions more comfortable and empowering. One of ART’s unique benefits is that clients do not need to share details of their trauma with the therapist. The process is highly structured yet creative, giving clients control while the therapist provides guidance. This makes the therapy less stressful for both client and therapist.

Even when traumatic experiences—such as combat, assault, or profound loss—are deeply painful, ART allows clients to quickly move beyond being “stuck” in these memories. By the end of the session, clients often feel a profound sense of relief and peace. Many describe the experience as not only calming but even joyful—for both themselves and their therapist.
